Frank started his soccer on Farrell's meadow. When he got old enough he joined up in the St. Lawrence Minor Soccer system. He quickly became a scoring sensation at that level and moved at a very young age to senior soccer.

Next to Wils Molloy, Frank was probably the best natural goal scorer in the history of soccer in St. Lawrence. He won a number of scoring championships and in fact on this date July 20, 1976 St. Lawrence defeated Marystown 17-1 and Frank scored a record of 9 goals. He dazzled the spectators with lightening speed and accurate shot. By the way Joe scored three in that game and Ray one.

Frank's talent did not go unnoticed by the Newfoundland Soccer Association. Allan Ross had him playing striker in the National Under-18 Championship in 1974, which the Newfoundland squad won.

Ross again called upon Frank's services during the Canada Summer Games in 1977. He also shared his time that year between the Games team and the senior Laurentians.

At Calgary, 1975, Frank scored a record 4 goals in Overtime against Montreal Kalena in the Semi-finals as the Laurentians won 6-4. They lost to British Columbia in the final by a score of 3-1.

In 1976 He got a serious injury early in overtime in the Eastern Canadian Challenge Cup Final against Halifax Olands. St. Lawrence won the game 2-1. It was felt by many that if he had been able to play and score in Winnipeg, the Laurentians may have won their first national title.

Frank received many awards during his career including Most Valuable Player, Most Gentlemanly and Effective, and Most Dedicated.

He was always well conditioned and very disciplined on the field. Off the field he was a barrel of laughs always keeping the Laurentian players loose with his hilarious acts of comedy.

The St. Lawrence Soccer Hall of Fame welcomes Frank Haskell.
